Re: WebMO 20 on WSL

If you can run WebMO on the local computer but not access it from another computer, then it is almost certainly a firewall issue. Verify whether or not you can access the homepage of your local computer from another machine. Of course, you will need to use the ip address of the machine uin the url, ...

Re: WebMO 20 on WSL

Installing WebMO on Windows can be done as 1. Windows + Perl & Apache (for WebMO 20 and earlier), or 2. Windows Subsystem for Linux (for webMO 20 and later). Approach 1 installs Perl and Apache within Windows, both of which are required for WebMO. Then it installs webMO. This approach is being depre...

Re: Importing user lists

CSV UTF-8 works in WebMO 20. In WebMO 19 and earlier, CSV UTF-8 fails because of the character encoding. A work-around for earlier versions of WebMO is to save the Excel file as: * Tab Delimited Text (.txt) * Comma Separated Values (.csv) which use standard ASCII encoding. Or copy-and-paste into a s...

Re: Trouble installing WebMO on AWS CentOS - Unidentified Cloud Vendor

This issue stems from the CentOS linux 7 (Core) AMI not being one of the Quickstart AMI's distributed by Amazon. The Quickstart AMI's are a set of Amazon Machine Images that have been created and vetted by Amazon to run in their cloud. They include: Amazon Linux 1 (based on CentOS 6) Amazon Linux 2 ...

Re: Trouble installing WebMO on AWS CentOS - Unidentified Cloud Vendor

Thanks for your feedback. It's a challenge to ensure that the sitc script works across all vendors (Google, Amazon, Microsoft) and all Linux distributions/versions (CentOS 6/7/8, Amazon linux (= CentOS), Debian 9/10, Ubuntu 16/18). There is no need to change anything in sitc/install.conf, which sets...

Re: Could not contact remote server: verify passwordless SSH/RSH

See the Gaussian 16 instructions for adding the webmo user (or other users) to the gaussian group. The key points are to determine what the gaussian group is (499 in the case below) and then use 'usermod -a -G' to add the desired user to the gaussian group. 2. Setup gaussian group and add authorized...

Re: Cannot upgrade WebMO 19 to WebMO 20 on Google Cloud server

When upgrading WebMO with the Server In The Cloud (sitc) script, one must run the script as the sudo-capable system user, not as the regular webmo user . By contrast, when upgrading manually, one would perform the upgrade as the regular webmo system user. Also, one should not delete and re-install t...

Re: Linux Install -- Windows Client?

These networking questions should be posed to your local IT folks who are responsible for setting up your internal network(s) and external access to them. So without knowing what your networking configuration is, here are some thoughts that might be useful: Beyond the firewall on your WebMO server, ...
